If you feel disconnected from your body — floaty, numb, or like you’re watching your life from behind glass — that isn’t a flaw or a failure. When being in your body hasn’t felt safe, leaving it is how you coped. Coming back is possible, gently and at your pace, in person in Maple Ridge or online.

Leaving your body was never a weakness. It was protection.
Maybe you move through the day on autopilot. Maybe you can’t feel your feet on the floor, or you catch yourself holding your breath, or you feel strangely far away from your own life. Feeling disconnected from your body has a name and a reason: when being present felt unsafe, your system learned to check out to keep you okay. That was wisdom, not weakness. And what the body learned to do for protection, it can gently unlearn when it feels safe enough to come back.
You might recognize this if…
A body that feels unsafe braces, numbs, or floats away — whatever it takes to protect you. That’s why willing yourself to relax or forcing yourself to be present rarely works, and can even make things feel worse.
Grounding techniques for anxiety do help — but only when they meet a nervous system that feels safe enough to receive them. So the real work isn’t forcing your way back into your body. It’s making your body a place that feels safe to return to.
You don’t ground yourself by gritting your teeth through it. Somatic grounding works when it’s slow, optional, and paced by you — so your nervous system learns it can trust the process.
That’s the heart of my work: trauma-informed Reiki and guided grounding exercises that invite you back into your body a little at a time, never faster than feels safe. No pushing, no “just feel your feet.” Just a gentle, repeated invitation to come home to yourself.
Whether you want a grounding practice for the hard moments or a session to feel held while you land back in your body, you can begin today.

You’re capable and present for everyone else, and quietly miles away from yourself. You may have been told to “just be present” and felt it as one more thing you’re failing at. If that’s you, this was made for you.
You don’t need to carry everything. You are safe here.
I’m a Certified Reiki Master Teacher based in Maple Ridge, BC, and my work is trauma-informed and rooted in nervous system safety. I came to this the long way, through my own recovery — so I know what it’s like to feel far from your own body, and the slow, gentle way back.
Today I help people here in the Fraser Valley and online, wherever they are, feel safe enough to come home to themselves. Sessions are gentle, at your pace, and never rushed.
It means being able to be present in your own skin without bracing, numbing, or floating away — to feel your body as a place you can settle, not somewhere you have to escape. For many people it comes back slowly, one small moment of safety at a time.
They’re gentle ways to bring your attention back to the present and to your body — breath, sensation, sound, contact with the ground. They work best when your nervous system already feels a little safe, which is why I pair grounding exercises with practices that settle the body first, rather than forcing presence.
Usually because, at some point, being fully present didn’t feel safe — so your system learned to check out to protect you. It’s a normal, protective response, not something wrong with you. When your body feels safe enough, the connection can gently return.
No. Energy healing and guided meditation are a gentle complement to the care you already have, not a substitute for medical or mental-health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please reach out to your doctor or a crisis line.
Yes. Everything is trauma-informed and gently paced, and most people come in brand new to this. There’s no forcing and nothing to relive. You stay in control the whole time, and you can pause or stop whenever you need to.
Let’s help your body feel safe enough to return to. Book a free 15-minute discovery call and we’ll talk about where you are and the gentlest place to start — no pressure, no commitment.
